Hero Skills->->Player
So I just got Nightfall and I am a dervish monk. I have dunkoro and koss for heroes. I know they can use my skills but can I use theirs. Such as healing breeze I do not want to waste money at a skill tainers and Dunkoro has it. So in the end I just want to use my heroes skills that I dont have. Can I?

A hero has any skill you have "unlocked" i.e you got it using balt faction. If you just made a new guy your heros will have some skills you dont, if your koss say has an elite you wont be able to use it untill you get it yourself. You need to buy a skill if you want it for a pve character either from the skill trainer or a hero skill trainer, or get them through a quest
So the answer is no. If you dont want to waste money just check if you have the skill on your list yet. |

So you are a D/Mo and you want Healing Breeze why? I heard Mystic Regeneration was good. Use Balthazar Faction to unlock it and buy that skill instead.
edit: To answer your question, though, heroes can use any unlocked skill on your account, but PVE characters must acquire every skill individually, whether or not it is unlocked. So, no. Last edited by MisterB; Dec 28, 2007 at 11:26 PM // 23:26.. |

Mystic Regeneration is bad. You're a Dervish; go kill stuff. Let your Mo/x's worry about keeping you alive.

you have access to all unlocked skills through any skilltrainer.
so in case you unlock it (with balthazar's faction, gotten from any form of PvP and traded in at a priest of balthazar) you will have access to it ... |

If you are going to use the monk skills to heal yourself, then become familiar w/ the 'target self' quick key, (I think it's the apostrophe), so you aren't healing someone else when you need it... Here's some skills: [skill]Vital Boon[/skill] [skill]Signet of Pious Light[/skill] [skill]Meditation[/skill] could also be used but it isn't 100% reliable. [skill]Balthazar's Rage[/skill] is also useful. [skill]Faithful Intervention[/skill] is nice because it is an enchantment w/ infinite duration. [skill]Mystic Vigor[/skill] can also be used. [skill]Avatar of Dwayna[/skill] is a decent elite if healing's your thing. [skill]Victorious Sweep[/skill] isn't bad, but requires a foe w/ less health than you. [skill]Twin Moon Sweep[/skill] is a bit more reliable, but you need a cover enchantment to get the effect. [skill]Pious Restoration[/skill] can also be used. Go to the hero skills trainer, one is found in Kamadam and another in the Sunspear Great Hall. They can unlock a small number of skills for your character for free, at the cost of hero points(which are gained every time you lvl up your sunspear rank).

Its strange then, how when you bring Tahlkora with a good, current prot bar, no one dies. A Dervish needs to be able to kill things. That is their job. There is no need to make your party's dervish spread their attributes so thin when in the end, their self-heal won't save them from anything that dangerous anyway. Quote:

No, you can't use your hero's skills until you buy it from a skill trainer for yourself.
Please, DO NOT listen to those who tell you to rely only on your monks for healing. GOOD players are able to be self-reliant to a certain degree without requiring the attentions of a monk for direct healing - Your monk should be there to HELP you in a tight spot, not keep you standing through everything with no assistance from yourself. Your monk has the whole party to look after - if you don't help take the pressure off your monk by helping yourself - he will stand there with no energy and watch you die. (and if its a human monk - he should leave you lying dead in the dirt for being a selfish, over-extending, bad player) Read Biostem's post again (it is a very good post) and take note of the suggestions he has made. Try not to use Monk skills for yourself as it means you will need to spec attribute points into something other than your main profession and at this stage you can't afford to. There are enough self-support skills listed in his post so that you should be able to get one of them at the stage you are at now. Good luck and Fight well. |

you'll eventually end up having to have a couple of monks to keep the party alive, so having a few quick heal spells can really change the flow of battle, i.e. allow you to make a few more critical hits before you die; vital boon and twin moon sweep are my standby's, but at an early stage having pious assault really helps too 'cause it kills your enchantments and allows vital boon to kick in its health, and by that time you can use it again: get the max health kicker, pious assault to lose the enchantment and get (x) amount of health back. Of course, if you have to use it repetively to stay alive like that in a single battle, odds are you should either bring different heroes/henchies, or level up before trying that particular battle. if concerned about healing at the beginning, make sure you take Dunkoro and then a healer henchie. Also, i've dualed my other heroes, like Koss, Melonni, etc, as monks for part of the game and given them simple, effective healing spells, like healing breeze, to help keep the strain off one healer. At the lowest attribute healing breeze still adds +5 regen.
the only really decent monk skill that i use (D/Mo20 myself) is resurrection, but if i'm using that skill much then i'm really up shiesse crick |

Wow. Thanks to those who were helpful - and those who weren't, don't post if you have no answer. You know who you are. Closed.
